Understanding Plaque
Plaque

Help your patients appreciate the importance of plaque removal

Plaque is a sticky, colorless deposit of bacteria that forms on the hard surface of teeth. Since patients can't see plaque, they may not worry about it—but if they're using a standard manual toothbrush, they can leave up to 50% of plaque behind.*

This invisible plaque can lead to gingivitis, and bacteria in plaque can also produce acids that can lead to dental caries. Explaining why plaque removal is so crucial can help patients improve their brushing before it causes more serious problems.
